The Trends Report: Making Waves

Just because Summer is officially over it doesn’t mean we’re ready to throw in the beach towel…at least not when it comes to our hair. We’re not sure why a day spent ocean side delivers deliciously devil-may-care hair, but we’re sure it’s something we want year round. Getting tousled, windblown beach hair from a bottle can be a no-brainer: irresistibly sexy hair without all those travel headaches, not to mention pesky sun damage? Sign us up.

We consulted stylist Edward Tricomi who said getting the look is easy as 1-2-3. “The salt in beach water roughens hair up, giving it texture and a certain look women love. Getting the look at home without taking a trip to the sandy beach is simple. By using a combination of the right styling products you can create the same effect easily, no matter your hair texture.”

Step 1: Start by spraying a volumizer on damp hair at the roots and hairline. The spray boosts lift at the roots, creates the right amount of bounce and volume without the stickiness of the salt water, imparts shine and de-frizzes strands.

Step 2: Next, work a little bit of gel through damp hair and pin in loose spirals around the head. Edward recommends Blue Gel from his own line because it provides firm yet flexible hold.

Step 3: Ideally you’ll want hair to air dry, but you can speed up the process by blow-drying then removing the pins and using your fingers to shake out and style hair.
