Michelle Obama Rocks The Blue Carpet

Since this is a company blog, tossing around political opinions is understandably frowned upon...but that doesn't preclude me from raving about our "First Lady Elect" Michelle Obama's winning style on the blue carpet.

Resplendent in a silky custom Narcisco Rodriguez creation from his Spring 2009 collection, she took a runway look and made it totally wearable: kissing the sheer crotch goodbye (as if anyone would want that...um...ever?), opting for a more conservative neckline, and making it her own with fab earrings and yes, that tiny cardi which may not have been the most stylish choice but certainly made sense for a chilly Chicago evening. I like the criss-cross affect at the waist which I think works for her Bodyline as well.

Reviews have been mixed from the blogosphere so I encourage you all to chime in with your style verdict!

At first I hated it from afar, but when I saw up close shots loved it. She has amazing style!
And umm, I tried to be careful on my company blog, but it's so dang hard!

I like that she takes risks and doesn't show up in those buttoned up suit jackets that political women seem to always wear.

Ditto. I didn't like it from afar but it looks much better up close and esp on the model in better light..

It was a fabulous dress

The dress looks better on her than on the model!

I ended up blogging on this dress too. I have to say, I'm a big fan of Michelle's style, but thought this was a mis-step.
That is NOT the kind of dress you wanna "mom"-down with a cardi (not to mention near-flats).
It ended up making her wider than she is too.

Funny thing, several of us were out tonight and having the discussion and not one of us thouoght it looked good on here and all had the comment - what was that dress???!!! She is always so classy and beautiful, but this was a definite mis-step. It was HISTORY and she was wearing that???
