Fashion Saves Lives, Really.

You may remember my love affair with Housing Works, mentioned here and here.

Well, here are a couple of highly mentionable updates:

The organization, whose proceeds benefit those living with HIV and AIDS, is holding a sample sale with over a million bucks worth of designer goodies in the hopes of raising $500K. There's also a swank party, Fashion For Action, which is being held at The Rubin Art Museum and hosted by Marc Jacobs.

The sale will be held at the store's Chelsea location at 143 West 17th Street from November 14 - 16th. Not a New Yorker? Don't fret. They've also updated their website to include "Buy It Now" items that your friendly neighborhood Fed Ex guy will happily dispatch.

There are tons of treasures that get updated daily but here are some of my favorites:



A Tom Ford designed Gucci dress that is perfect for the stylish, yet cash-strapped bride, a vintage Courreges bag that's equally chic with a tweed suit or jeans, and speaking of jeans, a pair of Sevens in a flattering wash and cut.

More Coats To Drool Over...And They're On Sale Too!

Okay, so I know I sound a bit like a broken record but bear with me.

Looks like I don't have to choose between saving or stealing when it comes to wrapping up for Winter.

On the left we have the fabulously girly Nanette Lepore "Kiss Me" coat, regularly $650 now $390 at Saks or the Marc Jacobs Wool Blend Felt Coat in a classic navy. Normally $568, on sale $340. Get it at Nordstrom.

The first two "Mary Poppins Goes To Dubai" looks were a scary reminder of that PR Little Bo Peep disaster from a short while ago, while the latter two look perfectly chic and pulled together.

Please don't misunderstand me, I love a little quirk. Make that a whole lotta quirk:



Love the I Dream Of Jeannie pants, wacky little gold & turquoise safety pin, and all:



BUT since nobody rocks harem pants quite like Barbara Eden, and lurex & plaid combos remind me of Halloweens gone by, I'll stick to classic pieces that I will wear year after year -- sorry Marc.

It's no secret I heart Shop It To Me, I am a Trendsetter after all.

Here are a couple of deals that really revved my engine this morning:



A Tory Burch tunic takes "sporty casual" totally glam. I adore the few TRB tunics I have in my collection -- I always feel pulled together and never fail to get bombarded with compliments. I'm not sure if it's because they're pretty or because I feel so good in them, but a compliment is a compliment regardless!

Just saw this clip on Sassybella.com and couldn't wait to share. This is Marc in 1987 talking about his new line inspired by underwear. The icing on the cake is his "Freudian slip".

If it wasn't for the amazing 80's synth in the background I would have sworn it was the set for the More Than Words video. Enjoy!
