Last Call

Photobucket

(From L - R: Prada, Cole Haan, Anne Klein)

One of the things that I miss most about living in the 'burbs (aside from the ability to wash my unmentionables, um, while wearing unmentionables) is hopping in my wheels to hit up the outlet mall for some serious deals.

Neiman Marcus' Last Call was one frequent destination. If you haven't been, it's a wonderful source for buying high end designer goods at outrageous discounts. I've gotten comfortable at both the Elizabeth & Philly locations -- here's a list of others:

Tempe, AZ
Milpitas, CA
San Diego, CA
Denver, CO
Naples, FL
Miami, FL
Orlando, FL
Sunrise, FL
Lawrenceville, GA
Hanover, MD
Auburn Hills, MI
Las Vegas, NV
Elizabeth, NJ
Central Valley, NY
Deer Park, NY
Limerick, PA
Philadelphia, PA
Allen, TX
Austin, TX
Dallas, TX
Houston, TX
San Marcos, TX

If there isn't one in your neck of the woods check out the "Sales & Values" section of Neiman Marcus' website for an almost as good experience.

Trends Report: Flights of Fancy

By the looks of all the feathers flying around handbags, headbands, purses, and even clothing we’re collectively ready to nest for the season. The trend adds a touch of whimsy to your ensemble that is a bit more ladylike than your run-of-the-mill embellishment. It’s a little opulent, a little eccentric, and a whole lot unique. Keep it refined by leaving the hot pink boas to Angelyne and you’ll do fine.

Though fancy feathers have been around for several months, they don’t show any signs of migrating South for the Winter. When stars like Sarah Jessica Parker & Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen sport the look you know there will be tons of inexpensive options to look for in stores.

Want to make the trend truly yours? Consider a trip to the craft store for trimmings and let your imagination run wild. If you’re afraid to commit to embellishing a pricey item in your wardrobe, pick up an inexpensive diamond-in-the-rough at your local thrift and have fun with it. Consider hot-gluing peacock plumes to old pumps to jazz up your party dress or maybe just a simple headband made of pheasant-backed ribbon.

Of course there’s always the ultimate in low maintenance DIY for the laziest among us – tuck a feather in the brim of your fedora for a pop of color and an instant update.

My Boot Obsession Continues

Hello lover.

Yeah, I did just quote a fictionalized cable tv character -- but look at these babies.

*Sigh*

Available at Neiman Marcus: the Alberto Fermani knee high boot. You'd think the designer would come up with a far lovelier name for such buckled up perfection. I'll overlook it this time.

If you buy them now, Neiman's will even throw in a set of designer illustrated notecards.

Who's with me?!

CUSP Is Giving Away Free Goodies - Look!

Photobucket

Remember when I told you about Neiman Marcus' chic little sister CUSP? Well good news! If you shop today through September 2nd, and spend $400 you'll receive this organic tote chock full of goodies. I've taken advantage of one of these promotions through NM and lemme tell you, those goodies are quite tasty.

I think this is the universe's way of telling me that L.A.M.B. bag is going to be mine. What will you buy? Check out the goods here.

What I Need This Morning: A Doctor!

Photobucket

I'm still kicking myself for not buying one of those L.A.M.B. LeSportsac bags created by Gwen Stefani way back (in 2003 I think?) so I'm determined to not let that happen again.

This Doctor Bag beauty is one of CUSP's new arrivals, and if all goes according to plan, will be one of mine as well. I love the bold graphic pattern - and that li'l lamb is too cute for words. I'm not normally into logo'd stuff but this one doesn't make me want to hurl.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, CUSP, is part of Neiman Marcus -- think of it as their cool younger sister: heavy on more "hipster" designers (A Common Thread, J Brand, Goldhawk, Phillip Lim, etc.) it's a NM experience without having to wade through those St. John knits or David Yurman baubles.

Enjoy!
