Street Beat: Midwest Jess - Patriotic Style

Jessica Schroeder knows a thing or two about making trends her own. A quick look at her blog and you’ll find them all: winter florals, plaid, colored tights, and oversized sunnies to name a few. The Midwestern native’s keen sense of style comes from taking risks that pay off brilliantly.

Her inspiration outfit; a spin on patriotic chic, pairs a black stars and stripes scarf with a navy peacoat – Jessica thumbs her nose at the notoriously no-no combo of black and navy for an unabashedly individualist style statement. The wide leg flairs and caramel colored accessories add an early ‘70s Love Story inspired flair.

Street Beat: Waldorf Chic

Like Lauren – seen here in her “Peach Princess” ensemble – we used to loathe Mondays, but those were back in the dark days before Gossip Girl served up a weekly diet of catfights, backstabbing, and stylish goodness.

If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll recognize the undeniable Queen B influence on “L’s” look. We adore her handmade peach skirt, paired brilliantly with a slim-fitting cardigan and feminine bow-tie blouse, both from Target. The FIT student keeps it chic with a simple bangle and flats – perfect for a day at school or a night spent with BFFs on Park Avenue. Word is Blair approves.

Until next time, you know you love me. xo xo -- GG.

New York Street Beat: Made In The Shades

We take our job as style sleuths very seriously, that’s why we absolutely adore it when people get it right – that is, flaunting a style that not only complements their unique personality but their physical characteristics as well.

What struck us about these well-coiffed cuties is how perfectly their sunglasses complemented their face shapes. Finding the right frame for your face is easy. Start by completing your Bodyline Profile and keep these tips in mind:
  • If your face is Curved, choose frames that fall to or slightly above your brow with softened edges.
  • If you’re face is Angular, opt for squared off corners with sides that extend to temples.
Login to find out more, and don’t be surprised if we catch you on the street looking flawless.

New York Street Beat: Skirting The Issue

Photobucket

Slim is in.

But while celebs like Kim Kardashian and Rihanna have been seen shimmying about in Herve Leger the scene from the street is full, fun, and decidedly more feminine. These two ladies, both spotted in SoHo, represent an effortless chic style that is equally at ease in town or in the country.

We love how both let the skirt take center stage while keeping other accessories simple. Kim’s (left) statement necklace is in the same tone as her top, so it doesn’t compete with that bold graphic skirt from H&M. India’s (right) Steve Madden slides and Kate Spade bag are delightfully unfussy and elegant, lending a Grace Kelly air of sophistication.
