I'm a sucker for anything that indulges my imagined inner rock star. That's why this cute bangle by Rachel Leigh totally caught my eye.

The bow is just so Park Avenue while the purple snakeskin, she is oh-so-naughty.

Oooh, I Gotta Get Me Some Bling

PhotobucketPhotobucket
I know the sensible thing for me to do this payday is to cover my health insurance, rent, and pay a visit to the doctor...but those things aren't very sexy...and just look at these tantalizing blingy bits. I want them both. Now.

The Purple Waterfall hoops from Tina Tang is an incredibly chic way to try the fringe trend without a huge commitment. At $68 they're fairly priced but if you can make it to her New York store on November 3rd, she's offering 25% off to celebrate her birthday! Her shop is located at 49 Greenwich Avenue. I may see you there.

My next temptress du jour is the Magnolia Necklace by Jordann Jewelry. Buy it online at PalmBeachJem.com. Tell me this wouldn't be uber hot with a plunging v-neck halter top?

Ugh...why isn't my wallet as fat as my sense of style?!

Help Me Decide: Money Shoes, Hot or Not?

Photobucket

I'm feeling really conflicted by these Maison Martin Margiela pumps: part of me digs the cheekiness...imagine how many people would stoop down to pick up what they thought was a windfall...while the other part of me thinks they're utterly ridiculous.

Please help me decide: dragging cash around town on your feet, hot or not?!

I'm Totally Nuts For Wendy B.'s Squirrels

At the risk of sounding like a total nutter I have a confession to make: I have an aversion to squirrels. Thank my overprotective father for instilling this irrational fear in me as a child; whenever one would come within 25 feet, dear ol' dad would quickly grab me and warn that if the little bugger attacked I’d end up in the emergency room getting to know the business end of a 12” needle.

Growing up in the ‘burbs of the Garden State there were plenty of squirrels scurrying about their daily business of doing whatever it is squirrels do, so this scenario was repeated with great frequency. To this day I have a minor freak out whenever I see one.

Why am I telling you this long-winded tale?

Because I’ve had a psychological breakthrough and I have jewelry designer and blogger Wendy B to thank.

She’s created the cutest squirrel pendant in response to the popularity of her acorn necklace and I may need to get one to finally show my neurosis who's boss.

I ask you: how can such an adorable little creature in 18K gold or sterling silver be so bad? I think even dad would approve.

Help Me Decide: Mother-of-Pearl Hibiscus Necklace: Hot or Not?

Photobucket

One of my fave eBay searches involves bib necklaces but I'm really on the fence about this one. Part of me thinks the soft pastel colors and feminine beads make it the perfect finishing touch to some girly/bohemian/sophisticate outfit, while the other part of me thinks I'm a step away from Mrs. Roper's muu-muus and curly mop wigs.

Please help me decide, this vintage bib necklace: hot or not?

Trends Report: Cameo Appearance

A quick scan of jewelry trends for Fall has us feeling like we’re peeking into Granny’s jewelry box – cameos are big news. The perfect complement to this season’s vintage- and Goth-inspired looks, they’re available in myriad forms so you’re sure to find one that tickles your fancy and reflects your personal style.

Cameos were first created in the early 1800s by artisans who carved figures in shell, agate, or onyx. Since no gemstones were used cameos were considered appropriate “day” jewelry and popular with stylish ladies of the time – Queen Victoria and Catherine the Great were among the many admirers and collectors. Interestingly, they came into popularity just as new archeological discoveries were being made in Italy and Egypt, so classical images from ancient times became all the rage.

Contemporary interpretations include cartoon figures and animals, and are fashioned in non-traditional colors like neon to really keep the look modern. If the idea feels a little antiquated to you but you like old classics, look for clothing and tote bags that feature the image with funky new twists.

Bits & Bobs, The Bebob Wallet from Betsey Johnson

Photobucket

Remember how I was lamenting about finding something to hold all of my bits and bobs that didn’t scream status but instead was a little wacky just like yours truly?

In keeping with my ‘candy girl’ theme I present this confection, the appropriately named “Bebob,” from Betsey Johnson.

Get it at Nordstrom.

I Want Candy!

I am going to have to thank my latest craving to our lovely reader Annie Spandex.

Annie scoped out these yummy finds on Etsy from a seller who goes by the name stoopidgerl I'm not sure if that's a reference to the totally awesome Pink! but I am loving everything this seller has to offer just the same.

These have my name written all over them:

Or, if you prefer your sweets straight up there's always:

Just looking down and seeing that sweet li'l ice cream sundae resting on my finger would make me smile...I can really see it coming in handy when I'm on line at the post office, in a crowded subway, or waiting for my husband to take out the trash.

Ah...serenity now...get yours here!

Brother Can You Spare A Dime? My Search For A New Coin Purse

I know this is going to sound completely crazy but bear with me: my favorite coin purse just died. It was a little yellow vinyl number that I picked up at H&M for, like, under $3. I’ve had it forever – come to think of it, it’s the only item from H&M that I’ve loved and kept for so long – the bulk of their stuff just doesn’t work for me.

Anyhoo, it’s tattered and torn so I’ve resigned myself to looking for a new holder to carry all of my life's detritus. The funny thing is when it comes to purses – like most fashion obsessed dames – I have a weakness for La Labels: Marc, Chloe, Prada – it’s all good. But while many view their wallets as yet one more opportunity to get all logo-d out or status-y, I go in the opposite direction: give me quirky, cute, or weird – I love the juxtaposition of a designer bag with an unexpected little surprise tucked inside. Besides, I don’t really care so much to impress my local barista with LVs, I’d rather pocket the green.

Here are some fun options I hunted down. Anyone with me?

So far, this one’s the frontrunner – it’s so me. From the always fabulous Plasticland.

Words to live by. Snag it here.

I love the fun origami design and bright colors of this one – aren’t those polka dots the bee’s knees?!

I'm a sucker for anything with birds...this one's organic.

The cheery yellow, the smiling 3D bacon buddies…tell me you wouldn’t laugh every time you reached for this?
